Fawn Mckay

Fawn McCay, birthplace at Ogden Utah September 15, 1915. Born into the Mormon Church's first family Fawn McKay directed her ingenious writing talents as well as her remarkable researching skills in the creation of the brilliant psycho-historical biography of Joseph Smith, published in 1945, entitled The Only Man Knows My History. It was derived from the sermon title given by Joseph Smith in 1844. In the sermon, he amazed his audience with his words: "You do not know me and you have never heard my heart. My life story isn't known to anyone. There is no way for me to tell you. Fawn (29 year old) said that, since her moment of candor, three-hundred writers have risen to the occasion. They do not have a lack of documents, they just contradict each the other. It is a difficult job to find these records and separate first-hand stories from third-hand copies and fitting Mormon stories with other ones to form a cohesive collage. It is both exciting and instructive. It's a task which Fawn Brodie put her professional energy into. Thaddeus Stewards was the outcome of her writing and research has made her a known writer. "The Devil's Road" (1959) The Slaughter of the South. The Story of Sir Richard Burton (1967) Thomas Jefferson. Richard Nixon, An Intimate history (1974) Posthumous.
