Despacito was a track from the year 2017 made by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi. It was the most streamed and downloaded song in the world within the space of six months. The single a mix of reggaeton, pop and rock not only brought renewed interest in reggaeton but also drew interest towards Latin music more generally. Billboard's Top 100 included four mostly Spanish tracks in 2016 and two songs in 2015. In the midst of the Despacito's popularity in 2017 there were 19 predominantly Spanish songs that were included in the top 100. And in 2020 it was 41. Following Justin Bieber's bilingual remix Despacito (2017), a number of bilingual remixes Despacito (2017) well-known artists soon began collaborating with reggaeton artists, including Drake and Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) as well as Madonna and Maluma on Medellin (2019).
